The Everyday Doodad Room: Dozens of tools, kitchen utensils, dishes and signage from places like Lorenz Cash Market where you could get lard for 5 cents per pound…but there was that pesky 5# limit (that’s a pound sign, not a hash tag). Just a fun room of memories where you can reminisce and show your grandkids “how it used to be.”
The Hodge Podge Room: A wall of local sports heroes and school icons, another of saddles and western wear, cases of jewelry…this room has a little bit of everything. This room is also our board meeting room and a place where you can sit and talk with friends.
The War Room: Uniforms, flags and medals adorn this room that also includes artifacts from the various branches and wars in which Skiatook residents have served. Visitors love to peruse the plethora of pictures that represent the hundreds of Skiatook residents who have placed their lives on the line to protect what we enjoy today.
Town History Room: While the entire museum speaks to Skiatook’s history, this room has a large collection of photos, annuals and memorabilia that depict the evolution of Skiatook from a small town to bustling city.
The Doctor’s Office: This small room says a lot. As a former doctor’s home and office, the museum has a collection of medical equipment that will take you back to a time when our benefactor made house calls, delivered babies in homes and might have bartered for something he needed to cover his fee.
The Quilt Room: As the name implies, this little sewing room displays some impressive quilt work, as well as, some nifty stitchery on some dresses and bonnets. And the furniture and organ are also nice reminders of life in gone-by eras.
Native American Room: As our city’s welcome sign states, Skiatook is “Where the Osage and Cherokee meet.” Certainly, our community has a rich Native American heritage to which many of the items in this room will attest.
